Description

:iconzusolain:
(left) Organs of a common Zoconchren male; female differs only slightly --most prominent being a second heart at the lower-left artery division. I neglected to label this |D sorry; it's got some of the basic organs that a human does -or at least have close to the same process. You may note the lack of intestine, a double set of smaller lungs, and the commonly-called 'baby bone' (top-center). Males have this too, though it is primarily for the females to carry children. In their culture, it is said that the Unara ("baby bone") is for the housing of souls -whether it be their own or a new child- and a customary tendency is to put a hand over ones chest cavity to portray concern or love for another.
--
(top-middle) Eyes are generally of the common variety, and have the basic sclera, iris, pupil, and so on. They also have a nictitating membrane that remains mostly invisible --excepting when one sleeps for a long time, is under a certain medication, or some sicknesses.
--
(top-right) Skin is made up of a thin layer of scales -a pore at each corner- and several layers of epidermis, dermis, nerves, and other like-function tissues. It is based with a vein and artery-lined section of translucent dermis. Hair is not present -excepting on the top of ones head- and the abundance of pores make it so the skin is altogether soft and slick.
--
(middle/bottom-right) Nia (Nae plural) are a small mark on the skin -usually on one or the other shoulder; occasionally on a hip or knee- and legend says that they spur from the spirit of the individual touching the soul of the planet. The scientific explanation, however, simply says that the blood vessels beneath the skin burst and scar because of the high pressures of being a teenager, and maybe even radiation exposure. Whatever the reasoning, they tend to appear near or after puberty, and often marks which path one should choose in life; they come in four variations and can be small and simple (lower) or intricate and complex (upper). Cumna is the most common, and comes in the shape of a pair of hands, a flower, feather, or somesuch other horizontal pattern. Wauna is the next in line, and often comes in the shape of a weapon, bird, or a figure looking upward. Rana is uncommon, and is often found in family groups; it comes in the shape of a long-necked animal, boat, or simply two hardly-connected segments. Veruna is the most rare -only a few have ever seen one- and is only found in large and long-running families of Rana; it often takes the likeness of two boats, an animal with wings, or a shape folding in on itself.
